New subscribers receive 11,000 Rakuten points (received in installments at the end of the 4th, 5th, and 6th months after starting service) and +4 Rakuten SPU (rewards 5 times the normal amount of back points for purchases on Rakuten).
Switching your mobile number (MNP) from another network to Rakuten Mobile will earn you 14,000 Rakuten points . That's incredible!
With Rakuten points, you can use them to make purchases on the Rakuten shopping website, or use them with the Rakuten Pay app , which accepts Rakuten Pay in many places in Japan.

Monthly fees

It will depend on how much you use that month (unlike other companies that require you to choose a fixed amount of GB). It's currently the cheapest on the market.

Under 3GB: 980 yen
3GB ~ 20GB: 1980 yen
Over 20 GB ~ Unlimited data : 2980 yen
Note that Rakuten Mobile's "Unlimited" data plan is genuine and doesn't throttle bandwidth if you watch a lot of YouTube or TikTok like other providers do. I personally use over 300 GB a month!

Payment methods

You will need one of the following: a credit card, a debit card, or a bank account registered with a mobile phone number.
Students or interns who don't have credit cards often use postal money orders (Yucho Bank) or local bank transfers.

They use two SIM cards, one Rakuten SIM for data and the other the cheapest SIM possible for their main SIM (suggestion: the main SIM is a Povo SIM, with zero charges if no data is used, only for calls and texts).
